Venue Description:
Opened in 2007, Shetland Museum and Archives at Hay's Dock in Lerwick provides a unique and stimulating venue for any corporate or social event. Whether it's the large galleries containing rich collections of artefacts and histrical media, the quality of the exhibitions in the Gallery, the functionality of the 120 seater auditorium or the fresh local produce available in the Cafe Restaurant, it is a natural venue for conferences and events with superb views across the dock and sea beyond thrown in for free. |
| Venue Details for Weddings: A unique venue for your marriage or civil partenrship, with a variety of areas licensed for a ceremonies, including the dramatic boathall (the wedding favourite), out on the balcony overlooking the dock or on the quay side or forshore itself. We can provide drinks on arrival, live or recorded music for the ceremony (the boathall accoustics work perefectly in this respect), followed by a reception and/or dance and music in our restaurant after. Each wedding has been bespoke and nothing is too mcuh trouble- we've even had cermonies outside on the quayside at middnight, though it was midsummers night which at this latitude means it doesn't get totally dark! |
|
Venue Capacity Details: Maximum seated capacity in the boathall is 75. The Restaurant can seat 56 or accommodate over 120 in a buffet style |

Venue Environmental and Sustainability Information: Venue Eco Information: Recycling, Re-use and Sustainibility were an integral part of the new Museum and Archives project. The building gets its heat from the Lerwick district heating scheme which is powered through a waste to energy scheme The building has an energy performance rating of 'B'. |
