The City of Lincoln is steeped in history, some of which dates back to Roman times. The major tourist attraction and major landmark is Lincoln Cathedral along with Lincoln Castle and the shopping experience of Steep Hill. In addition, the city has the medieval Bailgate area with its varied and interesting range of shops, restaurants, bars, cafés, hotels and many attractions. 

The University is situated on the Southbank of Brayford Pool. This is an inland marina at the heart of Lincoln which dates back to when the Romans first excavated this natural lake to create the pool as an inland port.
